At Schneider Electric, we call this Life Is On.
Starting from its roots in the iron and steel industry, heavy machinery, and ship building, it moved into electricity and automation management. After 170 years of history, Schneider Electric has become today the solution provider that will help you make the most of your energy.
The Low Voltage plant in Scarborough is a fully integrated site which produces the majority of its own components from various raw materials before transforming them into electrical distribution products for customers providing electricity to end users. An ongoing programme of investment in manufacturing plant and a culture of continuous improvement enables us to be agile and flexible in meeting our customers’ needs. With a drive to maintain the highest standards of health and safety, quality and energy management, we are the market leader.
Within our business we are able to support work experience opportunities as well as internships. As a business we invest in apprentices and graduate programmes to strengthen our business for the future.
Schneider Electric enables individual growth and ensures that employees can continue to expand professionally. We offer career paths that include opportunities to move between different functions and business units. International mobility and advanced educational opportunities are available as well. We look to continually improve in whatever we do. We look to simplify all of our processes
Currently our ratio of females stands at 30% and we commit to increase representation of women: at intake to 40%, on the management committee to 33%, and in top positions to 30%, all by 2017.
Schneider Electric supports HeForShe because we believe that both women and men are critical to achieving gender equality and promoting women’s empowerment. HeForShe is a UN solidarity movement for gender equality that brings together one half of humanity in support of the other half of humanity, for the benefit of all
Schneider Electric offers a variety of excellent development programmes for talented young professionals around the world. One of our popular international programmes is called Marco Polo. Designed for high-potential employees that have proven quick success with Schneider Electric, the programme offers participants the chance to take work assignments outside their home countries. Marco Polo gives these career-focused professionals a unique cross-cultural experience that is rarely available to those just entering the workforce.
Previously the Apprentices at the Scarborough have gone on to work in our purchasing, design, tendering and commercials teams at the site. Others have moved within the broader UK business. However being a truly global company, Schneider Electric Ltd can offer opportunities almost anywhere in the world for the right people.
