Unison designs and manufactures tube bending machinery and associated products and services including design and automation consultancy services, tube washing machines, end formers, measurement systems and 3D simulation software, which are exported around the world. We invest heavily in research and development, which is a keystone in our business.
Our key markets include, aerospace, automotive, marine, energy, oil and gas, custom products and many other processing equipment sectors. We are pioneers in the all-electric tube bending machinery and renowned across the world for our problem solving and innovative approach to customers’ problems. We have offices in the UK and USA and distributors working with us across Europe and Asia.
The UK economy is suffering from a lack of engineers, which Unison and other local businesses are witnessing first hand when trying to recruit new members to the team. Since 1973 we have been “home growing” our team through our apprenticeship programme. A UTC education will complement this, offering younger students a technical education with a natural progression to an apprenticeship or University place.
Students will be offered a high level, highly technical contextual learning education which will equip them with the skills that local businesses need to thrive and grow, moreover establishing a sustainable future for Scarborough based businesses.
We will be working closely with Scarborough UTC to offer hands on work experience to the students through projects and site visits. We will also be providing a team of cross-team mentors so that students have access to a range of experienced employees from all aspects of the business – including design and manufacturing, servicing, sales and marketing.
By working closely with students throughout their studies and supporting them through further and higher education we hope to be able to offer a full range of business and engineering, high level apprenticeships to Scarborough UTC graduates.
