At Scarborough UTC, we don’t stop at academia, you’ll learn the practical skills you need to nail an interview, write a killer CV and stand up against your peers in an increasingly competitive job market… So, how do we do it?
Throughout your studies you’ll become familiar with top names from some of the largest and most important employers in Scarborough, they’ll work with you on projects, be on hand to offer advice and will judge your final pieces of work. As well as this, you’ll be exposed industry experts, you’ll get the opportunity to explore your career options and speak directly to employers about the path that’s going to get you there.
You’ll become confident in presenting your ideas and you’ll be pushed to work outside of your comfort zone. You’ll get a real feel for the workplace and once you’ve graduated, you’ll be ready to slot right in.

Enhancing your knowledge of the workplace, you’ll be given the opportunity to get a work experience placement with one of the region’s largest employers. This will be relevant and tailored to your career goals, giving you the upper hand when it comes to applying for jobs, apprenticeships and university.
Where else can you work on projects set by the region’s largest employers? You’ll get to work in groups or individually to solve tasks and problems and provide solutions. All our projects are work based and give you an incredible insight into how employers approach such tasks. You’ll get technical briefings on technologies and methodologies used in the employer’s environment and you’ll be given in-depth knowledge of career opportunities.
With the help of our employer partners, we’ll coach you on the art of introductions so you can walk away from the college in the knowledge that you have introduced yourself to some of the region’s biggest business leaders. First impressions count and this is just a small step towards reaching your goals.

We’ll help you to craft and create the perfect CV, tailored to your chosen industry we’ll give you CV writing skills that will stay with you for life. You’ll be able to apply for jobs confidently and use these skills when submitting other applications including university, military or apprenticeships.
