In Year 12 and 13 the curriculum consists of three pathways: Professional. Professional/Technical and Technical. Each pathway prepares young people to achieve Level 3 qualifications which will support progression into Higher Education, Apprenticeships and work in STEM related fields.

PROFESSIONAL PATHWAY

Choice of up to 4 A Levels from: Mathematics,Further Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Literature, Product Design, Geography, Computer Science & Cambridge Technical in Engineering, plus Optional Extended Project.

With new two-year courses 3 A Levels are the recommended amount. Consideration will be given for a 4 A Level option for students with an average GCSE score of 7.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent reference from your current school.
  • Average GCSE Grade 6.
  • At least a Grade 5 in English and Mathematics.
  • To study A Level Mathematics, at least a Grade 7 in Mathematics.
  • To study A Level Further Mathematics, at least a Grade 8 in Mathematics.
  • To study A Level Biology, Chemistry & Physics, at least a Grade 6 in these sciences at GCSE.

TECHNICAL PROFESSIONAL PATHWAY

Technical Baccalaureate Route (TechBacc) – The TechBacc measure is aimed at ambitious, talented students that want to pursue a technical career. It gives young people the opportunity to be stretched through high quality, rigorous qualifications and to demonstrate their personal best. The TechBacc provides bright young people with a first-class alternative to the more traditional A Level route, ensuring they have the technical ability employers want, and giving Britain the skilled workforce it needs to compete in the global race.

The component courses of the TechBacc are:

  • Cambridge Technical level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.
  • AS Level Maths or Core Maths.
  • Extended Project Qualifications.

Technical Professional route (Without TechBacc):

  • Cambridge Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.
  • Optional A Level.
  • Optional Extended Project Qualification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent Reference from your current school.
  • Average GCSE Grade 6.
  • At least a Grade 5 in English and Mathematics.

TECHNICAL PATHWAY

This qualification is designed for you if you want to specialise in the engineering sector to enable you to undertake further study in engineering or to proceed into engineering-related apprenticeships or employment. You can take up to two specialist pathways in this qualification depending on your choice of units.

The Pathways are: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Design Automation, Systems and Control Manufacturing. You will cover 12 topics; some are examined and some are tutor assessed.

The component courses of the Technical Pathway qualification are:

  • Cambridge Technical Level 3 Diploma in Engineering.
  • Core Maths/GCSE Maths resit.
